Human Resource Management’s (HRM) Statewide Training and Development Course Offerings are offered to all state employees. Supervisors must nominate employees and HRM’s Statewide Training and Development section must approve the registration forms before attending courses. Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis unless otherwise noted.
For online courses, registration forms do not need to be submitted to Statewide Training and Development. However, the employee should have the approval of his or her supervisor prior to beginning an online course.
Course Numbers
The letters N, K, or S have been added after all course numbers to designate the county (New Castle, Kent, or Sussex) where the training will be conducted. Please be sure to designate the appropriate course number and letter.
Registration Form
The registration form requires all information to facilitate communication between HRM’s Statewide Training and Development section and the agencies. This form must be signed by the employee’s supervisor before it is returned to HRM’s Statewide Training and Development section.
Employee ID Numbers
To better serve our customers and safeguard against identity theft, we use state of Delaware Employee ID numbers (not social security numbers) to process all training registration forms. Your Employee ID number is located on your direct deposit payroll advice/pay stub. All employees who receive a state paycheck have an employee identification number. If you receive your paycheck from an authority or a corporation and not the state of Delaware, we will provide you with a training tracking number.
Course Status
A letter or e-mail confirming your enrollment in the course or informing you that the class is full will be sent to you by HRM’s Statewide Training and Development section. You should notify your supervisor promptly. Once approved and registered for the course, you are expected to attend. If you are not properly nominated and approved by HRM’s Statewide Training and Development section, you will not be permitted to attend the training. During peak registration periods, it takes HRM’s Statewide Training and Development section 7 to 10 days to process registration forms. Please allow at least that length of time before calling to check the status of your training request(s).
Overflow Lists
Since many courses fill up rapidly, employees on overflow lists will be contacted if cancellations occur. Please check our website as new classes are added periodically.
Cancellations
Since many courses have overflow lists, it is extremely important that cancellations be made at least 48 hours before the course date so that other employees may attend. Please e-mail cancellations to HRM’s Statewide Training and Development section at statewide_training@state.de.us. Agencies may substitute one employee for another, but should notify HRM’s Statewide Training and Development section of the substitution. We do require a minimum number of participants to hold a course. If the minimum number is not reached five days before the course begins, we will inform you by e-mail of the cancellation.
Record of Training Attendance
Attendance is taken at all training sessions. While we revise our process for sending confirmation letters, we will provide course confirmation letters or a summary of training course attendance upon request. Please email requests to the statewide training mailbox at statewide_training@state.de.us and include the employee's name and Empl ID; for single course confirmation letters please also include the course title in the request.
Course Certificates
Certificates of Training will only be awarded to participants in certain courses, generally those of more than one-day’s duration.
