DTI and State Pension Office Unveils
PeopleSoft 8 Upgrade

New functionality improves customer services, increases office efficiency

Dover - Acting State Personnel Director Dana Jefferson, Ph. D., today announced the Office of Pensions PeopleSoft systems upgrade to the most current PeopleSoft 8 application working in conjunction with the Department of Technology and Information (DTI).

By virtue of the upgrade, the State Pension Office will improve customer service and boost workplace efficiency. "We are pleased to offer this improved functionality that will enhance services to our customers," said Jefferson. "By upgrading to the most current PeopleSoft application, we demonstrate State Personnel's commitment to Gov. Minner's e-government initiatives by continuing to improve the services offered our contributing pension plan members and pensioners and ensuring them superior services.

A secondary benefit to the PeopleSoft upgrade will be realized by the Payroll Human Resources Statewide Technology (PHRST) team as invaluable gains are realized through Pensions' firsthand experience with the upgrade. This will enable PHRST to better prepare for the eventual statewide PHRST system upgrade.

State Pension Administrator David C. Craik said, "This PeopleSoft upgrade represents another success for SPO's e-government strategy. We remain committed to providing effective and user-friendly services to all our customers."

Lynn Hersey-Miller, Director of Major Projects for the Department of Technology and Information (DTI) said, "DTI has partnered with the Office of Pensions to provide project management support for this effort. This important relationship is one of the first of its kind under the direction of the State's CIO, Tom Jarrett. We are here to help in any way we can to ensure a successful implementation of such a crucial system."

John McCartney, Information Systems Manager for the Office of Management and Budget states, "The upgrade to PeopleSoft version 8 fits perfectly with the Office of Pensions mission of improved customer service. While the current PeopleSoft application has served as an excellent foundation in providing quality service, the upgraded version will improve the offices ability to serve our clients. A direct benefit to our customers will be an enhanced e-presence that will offer our customers the ability to perform self-service functions via the Internet."

Designed with a look that reflects the State's portal, the user-friendly website delawarepensions.com was unveiled in June 2001.
