State Employees' Charitable Campaign Nets Over $458,000 Dover - Governor Ruth Ann Minner, Lt. Governor John C. Carney and State Personnel Director Lisa Blunt-Bradley joined together lauding state employees today for their generosity in giving to the State Employees' Charitable Campaign (SECC). Blunt-Bradley, SECC Chairwoman, announced then revealed a grand total of $458,323 in donations for the 2003 Campaign. "I want to recognize the thousands of state employees who donated so generously this year," Governor Minner said. "Your efforts serve to help so many individuals and families here in Delaware. You really make a difference in the lives of all our residents". The SECC is state government's only charitable fundraising drive. Through it, state employees have the opportunity to give to more than 131 charitable organizations through payroll deductions and one-time donations. "I applaud the Statewide Steering Committee that oversee the program as well as the efforts of those volunteer captains and chairpersons for their efficient and enthusiastic management of the campaign," Lt. Governor Carney said. "Your efforts at motivating people and organizing events brought us record-level donations this year that will benefit many charitable organizations and thousands of Delawareans". Volunteers were presented a certificate of appreciation by Governor Minner and Lt. Governor Carney. Blunt-Bradley provided closing remarks, .I am so proud of our state employees, especially in light of these trying economic times. We have sent a strong message of community spirit to all Delaware citizens and, thanks to the unprecedented participation in this year's Campaign, we will continue to work for a better life for all by meeting our communities most important human care needs.. The goal for this year was to raise $415,000. Contributions actually surpassed that by more than $43,000, a 10.6% increase over goal. The announcement was made today at Delaware Technical & Community College, Terry Campus, at a breakfast thanking volunteers who help coordinate the agency collection programs.
